Hello Everybody,
As you may have noticed, we have decided to change the Karotz Home Page with a new colourful, dynamic, modern and more understandable page. What will you see if you access it now?
- All the useful information about Karotz’ life, applications and products, like the new price of Karotz, will be displayed with slides and visuals. Under the new page there are three new sections:
- ADOPT ME, for those who do not have a Karotz yet (how is this possible?). Also for those who want to know what’s it for and how does it work, with links to Karotz video and our online Ztore.
- MY KAROTZ, for those who already have a Karotz, with links to the USB installation utility, to their Karotz account, to the Applications Store and to all the Karotz accessories. Give your Karotz a unique style with accessories that suit your mood!
- MY NEWS, with direct links to the Karotz Community! Access the Karotz Blog and Forumz, and of course to the official Karotz Facebook fanpage and Karotz Twitter account. Do not forget to like our Facebook page and/or to subscribe to our Twitter account to get the latest Karotz news!

New Karotz OS available today (v12)

Hello,
Today, a new OS version for Karotz is available.
This update fixes the issues some of you have had with the voice recognition, where Karotz light remains stuck in orange, and nothing happens.
This update will be installed automatically next time your Karotz wakes-up or goes to sleep. Or you can install it manually by switching off your Karotz, and switching it back on.
During the download and the installation of this update, Karotz light will flash orange; your Karotz will be fully operational once its light flashes green.
Note that this update can take a few minutes, so that might delay the applications running when Karotz wakes up.

Nabaztag:tag revival at midnight the 24th of December!

We are so pleased to be able to share some great news with you. Yes, you can celebrate Christmas with your Nabaztag:tag!
At midnight on Christmas, plug them in and bring them back to life with all the applications that make them the charmers they are: moods, clock, weather, horoscope, tai chi, radio, and Nab2Nabs. All these features and functions will gradually be enriched with community contributions.
How to restart your Nabaztag:tag:
At midnight you can turn your rabbits on without changing anything. They will work smoothly depending on the services available on the open source servers.
The website www.nabaztag.com will provide you with documentation that will answer all your questions.

What your karotz is going to wear for Christmas eve?

Christmas is almost there… and for this event, why don’t you try to dress your Karotz with a special and nice outfit?
If you know how to sew, you can design a very special and unique costume – as some of our Karotz’s owner did, like Lacombine from Bruxelles (see below a picture of Lacombine’s Karotz below).
But if you don’t, don’t worry, there is another solution (the one we have used). Go to the website finecarrots, where you can choose the outfit you like.
Originally, this website is for the Nabaztag, but its cousin Karotz is exactly the same size.
Start by clicking here to download and print the pattern of the outfit chosen (in A4 or A3 format)…
… then you need a pair of scissors…
… and a glue stick… and here we go.. Karotz is ready for Xmas eve. Of course, you can use those patterns as a base and adapt them to make your own and unique outfit.

Announcement: Your Nabaztag, Karotz, and then…

Hi,
No doubt, you’ve already heard that ALDEBARAN Robotics is the new owner of Karotz and that we have created its very own subsidiary called Violet, which will continue the development of communicating objects for the general public.
We are delighted to be carrying on the tradition of this wonderful project initiated by Rafi Haladjian with Nabaztag. ALDEBARAN Robotics develops and sells robots designed to improve the human condition.
Nabaztag, and its cousin Karotz, the new generation of Internet-connected Rabbits, are very much part of this family.
We will be focusing most of our efforts on enriching the Karotz personality and functions and you will receive preview information about all the new features.
In particular, we will be working on its voice. I trust that you will adopt this new companion very quickly with as much enthusiasm as you reserved for its cousin.
Therefore, we have decided to extend the purchase offer of $79/£69/€79 for all Nabaztag owners. The conditions of the offer are provided below.
However, this does not mean that we are giving up on the Nabaztag and Nabaztag:tag users’ community.
I am pleased to announce that we have met the main coordinators and that we are doing our outmost to provide them with the resources needed to bring these rabbits back to life. In concrete terms, we will be contributing to open source development, hosting the community’s servers and providing voice recognition and synthesis services. We are working to make these new servers available before the end of the year.

As you may know now, things were quite tough in the last past months, but, since the beginning of October, Karotz has a great new home – Aldebaran Robotics / Violet.
All the team is now working hard putting everything back on track, so we can offer you the best features and applications for your Karotz, and help and support if you need any.
Starting next week, we will post news again regularly on the English blog – as we already start with the reopening of the Karotz Store-, and soon on Facebook and Twitter accounts.
